Being in the line of work she is in, making homes beautiful for her clients, Kate wanted something highly designed. “I wanted my home to display those things I have collected over the years and that I love being around.”
Says Kate, “Working with Hannah and Carlo and their four beautiful children was such a privilege. We loved bringing their vision to life. We really wanted to create Hamptons-style living which reflected the beachside location, and we wanted to make it easy-to-care-for and functional for a permanent family home with four growing children.
Of all the amazing and challenging projects KWD has worked on over the last four years – residential, multi-density and commercial – our latest project in Templestowe is one of our most memorable.
At KWD, we are constantly inspired, in awe of and so grateful for the incredible manufacturers we work with, and in particular so proud of the Australian partners we collaborate with every day to bring our clients’ design dreams to life.
When Kate first investigated the idea of moving to larger premises where she could accommodate ten staff in a central location, Mt Martha Village was the obvious choice. The concept of KWD HQ evolved from a desire to showcase how much KWD itself has evolved and grown.
KWD was thrilled to hear that Virgon won the 2017 HIA Australian Townhouse/Villa Development award. What a well deserved achievement for this Melbourne based family business.
At KWD, we love working with The English Tapware Company. Not only are they experts when it comes to the very best in tapware, door furniture, basins, baths and sanitary-ware, their customer service is first class. That’s why they are our go-to choice when it comes to selecting the highest quality and most functional of these products for our design projects.
The KWD team recently completed a really rewarding project. The owner was renovating and redecorating a property for sale, and having worked with him on a number of projects over the years he knew that we relished the opportunity to achieve a fabulous design on a budget.
Travelling in search of inspiration and innovation is so important to the design process for KWD. Visiting trade fairs is a vital part of this search for new ideas, new suppliers, new products and new ways of using the products that are already a part of our portfolio. Earlier this year, Kate Walker attended the Xiamen Stone Fair in China for the first time to see what she could discover.
