At KWD, we love every style and enjoy specifying soft and hard finishes, colours, textures and furniture to match any brief. Design is not about what we would like in our own home, it’s about what works for our clients, what they feel comfortable and what suits their lifestyle.
Being in the line of work she is in, making homes beautiful for her clients, Kate wanted something highly designed. “I wanted my home to display those things I have collected over the years and that I love being around.”
I love creating a juxtaposition between a few different styles. The form can be based on one aesthetic and the colour palette can be from another style and it can work beautifully. I love an eclectic blend of styles, and if you’re clever with the materials and spatial planning, you really can achieve a bespoke look.”
Says Kate, “Working with Hannah and Carlo and their four beautiful children was such a privilege. We loved bringing their vision to life. We really wanted to create Hamptons-style living which reflected the beachside location, and we wanted to make it easy-to-care-for and functional for a permanent family home with four growing children.
When Kate first investigated the idea of moving to larger premises where she could accommodate ten staff in a central location, Mt Martha Village was the obvious choice. The concept of KWD HQ evolved from a desire to showcase how much KWD itself has evolved and grown.
At KWD, we love working with The English Tapware Company. Not only are they experts when it comes to the very best in tapware, door furniture, basins, baths and sanitary-ware, their customer service is first class. That’s why they are our go-to choice when it comes to selecting the highest quality and most functional of these products for our design projects.
At KWD we are often asked to create a Hamptons style home. However there are misconceptions about this type of aesthetic. Hamptons style is often confused with American Coastal, so our first step at KWD is to drill down to work out what our client’s vision really looks like.
At KWD, we love seeing local designers achieving great things, and believe it’s important to celebrate this success. So when we saw what Sarah Healy and her partner Ben Harris had created in their own home renovation, we had to share their story.
There’s so much to love about this home. I know the property really well, and it is very special. I have enjoyed wonderful holidays in this house with my children, friends and family, lying in the backyard in the sunshine, having a picnic on the lawn and drinking Moscow Mules (read on for the recipe…)
