FAQ’s

1)      What service do you offer?

I offer design advice, and product sourcing for the hard finishes in a project.  I source all products required, and due to my strong, longstanding relationships with suppliers, I can negotiate exceptional pricing for my clients.

2)       What are hard finishes?

Hard finishes include, tiles, natural stone, paving, benchtops, cabinetry, carpet, timber flooring, sanitary ware, tap ware, bath ware, fireplaces, wallpaper

3)      What do you charge for your design advice?

I don’t charge for my design advice.  I offer clients personal, face-to-face consultations, and provide access to my huge range of products for specification.  I source the products for my clients, and purchase directly from the importers, to supply directly to my clients.

4)      What products can you source?

Tiles, Natural Stone (tiles and slabs), Reconstituted Stone (tiles and slabs) Terrazzo, Pool Tiles, Paving Tiles, Wall Cladding, Wallpaper, Taps, Baths, Sinks, Basins, Fireplaces, Carpet, Engineered Timber Flooring, and more.

5)      What warranties do you offer on your products?

I ensure you will receive warranties direct from the importers.  Each different material has different warranty options.  For example, some tiles have 10 year warranties, and others, lifetime guarantees.  I refer all warranty claims back directly to the importer for attention and action.  As I am not directly importing the materials, I am not personally liable for warranty claims.

6)      What geographical area do you service?

I service Melbourne and the Mornington Peninsula.  For large commercial projects, I service Australia-wide.  I have supplied jobs internationally also.

7)      What type of project do you specialise in?

Luxury residential projects, budget residential projects, Commercial, Retail, High-density, medium-density and low-density apartment complexes, Spec Building Projects, Architectural projects, Hotel Renovations, Car Dealership chains, Multi-National projects.

8)      What is the process in engaging your services?

The first step is for you to contact Kate Walker Design.  Upon contact, there will be a phone consultation, where we talk about your project requirements.  Based on this consultation, we will arrange a face-to-face consultation, where I will come armed with samples which match your specification.  From here, the refinement begins, where we ensure we find the perfect match of products for your project.  This may involve visiting suppliers with you, or simply returning to you with alternative products for suggestion.  The process may involve me visiting site, to get a real feel for the project, or liaising with your builder, architect, or interior designer.  Once the products are selected, you will be quoted by Kate Walker Design.  All products will be ordered on the various suppliers, and then delivered to site.  You will only have one entity to pay, thus creating a very streamlined, simple system for all of your hard-finish requirements.  Invoicing can be directed to you personally, or to your builder, which ever suits your requirements.

9)      How will I save money using Kate Walker Design?’

Due to my exceptional relationships than span over 15 years with importers of material, I can ensure you are buying at the best possible rates.  With Kate Walker Design, you will save between 15-30% from standard trade prices, depending on the products specified.

10)   How can I be sure to be getting relevant interior design advice?

Many of my clients are architects and interior designers, therefore I am constantly being exposed to the best the market has to offer.  I listen to experts in the field, and with their advice, can forecast trends, and ensure I have knowledge of the latest trends in the industry.  Additionally, several projects I have been involved in have been published in design magazines.
